Bruce Banner Becomes The Hulk For The First Time
TIH1 #1:
Bruce Banner became the Hulk after being bathed in
Gamma radiation. This happened when the
G-bomb that Banner designed and helped create for the US Goverment, exploded during its initial test. Banner had gone out on the test field to save a teenager,
Rick Jones, who was unwittingly very near the bomb. Banner managed to throw Rick into a crevice before the blast but Banner did not make it in time. Miraculously, Banner survived the explosion apparently without a scratch. When night came, however, he metamorphosed into a large, muscular being of great strength and
gray skin a soldier later christened as
Hulk. Rick Jones was the only witness to the transformation and kept it a secret.
Bruce Banner Gets Married
TIH2 #319:
Bruce Banner married
Elizabeth "Betty" Ross, daughter of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. Betty met Bruce while he was constructing the G-bomb. They fell in love immediately. The wedding took place right after
Doc Samson was able to separate Banner from the
Hulk. Father-in-law Ross tried to stop the wedding by shooting Banner, but Rick Jones got in the way to receive the bullet, which did not cause him a major injury.
Bruce Banner Kills His Father (Brian Banner)
TIH2 #-1: In self defense,
Bruce Banner kicked his father
Brian Banner who fell and fatally hit his head against the tombstone of
Rebecca Banner, Bruce's mom. Ironically, Brian had killed Rebecca. The police found Brian the next day after Bruce reported him missing. Rain had washed away all the footprints and the police closed the case as a random mugging.
