Hulk and Jarella (Art by Sal Buscema) GIRLFRIENDS
When it comes to the Hulk, most think of a super strong character, with an 'I'll Smash You', 'Leave Me Alone' attitude... But they probably ignore that he's dated many women. This page lists some of them:

Angela Lipscombe - Bereet - Betty Ross - Cary Lawrence - Jarella - Kate Waynesboro - Marlo Chandler - Nadia Blonsky - Susan Jacobson

Betty Ross

Full Name: Elizabeth Ross
Status: Deceased (TIH2 #466)
First Appearance: Incredible Hulk #1
Known Relatives: Thaddeus 'Thunderbold' Ross (father), Robert Bruce Banner (husband), Glenn Talbot (former-husband, deceased).
Biography: Betty Ross is the only daugther of Mrs. Ross and Colonel Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross.

Betty met Robert Bruce Banner in the very first issue of The Incredible Hulk comic book (TIH1 #1). Betty and Bruce fell in love immediatelly. But her father never consented the relationship. He regarded Bruce as being a milksop, and not worthed for his daughter.

Thunderbolt always wanted Betty to date one of the brave men who served at his army base. And he found the ideal candidate for Betty in Glenn Talbot, Thunderbolt's right hand man.

Despite her father's strong opposition, Betty followed her feelings, and insisted for a long time in the almost utopic idea of marring the man who becomes the Hulk.

In a twist of fate, Bruce seemingly gets cured from becoming the Hulk. So Betty and Bruce decide to marry (TIH2 #124). Thunderbolt starts to believe that Banner was not that bad after all. But things go terribly bad, the Leader uses gamma rays to turn Bruce into the Savage Hulk, and the wedding never takes place.

Betty continued hoping for the miracle that would unite her with Banner once again. But her unconditional love was betrayed by Banner when he met Jarella in TIH2 #140.

The Banner Hulk falls in love with Jarella, the green-skinned princess from the microscopic world of K'ai, and they almost get married. Things go wrong again, Psyklop brings the Hulk back to Earth. That wedding never took place either.

Eventually, Bruce told Betty about his affair with Jarella. Devasted, Betty felt betrayed, alone, and angry, and decided to marry the other man who loved her: Glenn Talbot. Thunderbolt Ross blessed the couple, and they became husband and wife in TIH2 #158.

Betty and Glenn's union was never a happy one. She even betrayed Talbot with Doc Samson in TIH #197. And Betty kept missing her only true love, Robert Bruce Banner. Jeaulous, Talbot becomes even more obsessed with killing the Hulk, than his mentor, Thunderbolt Ross.

Meanwhile, Bruce is dating Jarella. Unfortunatelly, Jarella dies when trying to save a kid's life (TIH2 #205). Banner and the Hulk are devasted.

Seeing no light in the tunnel, Betty decides to leave Glenn. They file for divorce in TIH2 #210.

After her divorce from Glenn Talbot, Betty goes her own way, but without dating other men. She remains a friend of Bruce. Bruce also goes his own way too, but he dates other girls like Kate Waynesboro, and Bereet. Bruce then looses control of the Hulk's form, and is exiled in the Crossroads dimension for the Earth's sake.

When Hulk is brought back to Earth, Doc Samson separates the Hulk and Bruce into two distinct beings. Freed from his emerald torment, Bruce proposes Betty, and she accepts him. But Thunderbolt Ross tries to stop the wedding by shooting Bruce. Rick Jones gets in the bullet's way, saving his friend. Fortunatelly, the bullet did not hit a vital organ, so Rick recuperates successfully from the injury. Betty and Bruce wed in TIH2 #319.

Betty was finally married to the man of her life. But her happiness doesn't last long. Bruce devotes all his time into killing the Hulk, in a similar way Betty's former husband Glenn Talbot did. Then, Bruce is merged back with the Hulk to prevent their death. So now Betty as also married to the Hulk. Bruce then turns into the Gray Hulk, who eventually leaves Betty to pursue his own deals in Las Vegas as Mr.Fixit. In Vegas, the Gray Hulk dates Marlo Chandler.

Betty resulted pregnant from her last encounter with Bruce Banner. Unfortunatelly, she has a miscarry and looses their unborn child.

Left by her husband, with a miserable life on her shoulders, Betty looks comfort in God's love and decides to become a nun. But Bruce finds her in the convent, asks her to follow him, and he promisses eternal love. Betty hugs the love of her life, and leaves the convent to follow her husband.

Betty meets Marlo Chandler as Rick Jones' girlfriend. Although it hurts Betty to know Marlo had an affair with the Hulk (Marlo did not know the Hulk was married), they become best friends.

Through hypnosis, Doc Samson creates a 'merged' version of Banner, Savage Hulk, and Gray Hulk personas, known later as the Professor Hulk (TIH2 #393). Betty initially does not accept the idea of Banner wanting to be the Hulk. But she finally does, and moves with her husband to the Mount, headquarters of the Pantheon, group whose leader is now the Hulk.

After living as a married couple for some time, Bruce gets pulled into the Heroes Reborn Universe. The 'Bannerless' Hulk that remained, leaves Betty alone once more. But when Bruce returns from the parallel Universe, Betty and Bruce reunite.

Everyting really went bad when Bruce finds her loved wife ill due to gamma radiation poisoning (TIH #465). Bruce efforts to save Betty's life were futile. And Betty Ross passes away in TIH #466.

It was later revealed that the Abomination poisoned Betty, causing her death.

Thunderbolt Ross keeps Betty's body intact in a secret military complex, with the hope of someday bringing her back to life.

With time, Thunderbolt Ross realized that Robert Bruce Banner is a good, brave man, who deeply loved his daughter.
