Savage Hulk saving Atlantis (Art by Erik Larsen) HEROIC ACTS
Hulk is often refered to a rampaging monster. But is he ever called a hero? This page lists some of his heroic acts, from saving a person's life to saving the entire human race.



  • Banner And Hulk Save New York
    TTA #85 and TTA #86: (The Savage) Hulk leaps and mounts a powerful missile that was targeted to Manhattan. While still on the air, Hulk reverted back to Banner, who was able to change the missile's trajectory to impact on the water. Bruce turns back into the Hulk before reaching the water. A pilot sees the Hulk on top of the missile, and mistakenly accusses him of the threat.

  • Banner Saves Glenn Talbot's Life
    TIH #200: Glenn Talbot has been in coma since the Gremlin shot him in the neck with a dart that implanted a monster in his brain. (The Savage) Hulk, controlled by Banner using the Encephalo-Helmet created by Doc Samson, agrees to be reduced to the size of a molecule, and injected into Talbot's brain, to try eliminating what's causing Talbot's coma.But Glenn's subcouncious creates palpable replicas of Hulk's adversaries to attack the gamma spawned intruder. Banner eventually looses control of the Hulk, who tears the Helmet appart, and is able to reach the monster and destroy it. Glenn comes out of his coma and despite being saved by the Hulk, he kept on hounding him until the last day of his life (in TIH #260).

  • Banner Saves Rick Jones' Life
    TIH #1: Banner risks his life to save that of an unknown individual, Rick Jones, who was at the test site when the G-bomb was to be detonated. Banner alerts Rick of the danger and throws him to a trench in the nick of time. But the G-bomb detonates, and Banner receives a full dose of gamma radiation. This incident gave birth to the incredible Hulk.

  • Banner Saves The Human Race
    TIH #2: Banner uses his super gamma cannon to save the Earth from the invasion of the Toad Men. He is proclaimed a world hero.
    TIH #110: Banner saves the Earth from certain doom by deactivating an alien device that could alter the planet's rotation around its axis, which would cause all sorts of catastrophic effects.
    TIH #125: Banner pilots into orbit a rocket that carries a nuclear warhead to destroy a comet that would fall on the planet. Banner successfuly destroys the comet.

  • Hulk Helps To Liberate Atlantis
    Defenders Vol.2 #7: (The Savage) Hulk and his Defenders partners liberate Atlantis from the invasor Attuma.

  • Hulk Liberates Morvania From Dictatorship
    TIH #134: (The Savage) Hulk defeats Draxon, dictator of Morvania. Draxon dies in the battle, and Morvania is freed from the dicatorship thanks to Old Greenskin.

  • Hulk Prevents An Atomic Bomb Blast
    TTA #63: After defeating a Leader's Humanoid, (The Savage) Hulk holds the atomic bomb in place to prevent its detonation. Hulk reverts to Bruce Banner, who is blamed by Glenn Talbot for the entire incident.

  • Hulk Saves A World from his Tyrant and from Destruction
    TIH3 #92-103: Hulk, leading a group of fighters from different alien races, liberates planet Sakaar from its murderous tyrant, the Red King. He saves the planet from destruction by shifting the plates which were cracked by the Red King, and by letting the Spike fathers feed of himself to prevent the younger Spikes to attack the people of Sakaar.

  • Hulk Saves An Army Base From Destuction
    TTA #61: (The Savage) Hulk intercepts a powerful missile targeted to Thunderbolt Ross' base in New Mexico. The missile detonates in mid-air. The Hulk falls to the ground unconsciouss. But he is blamed for the missile threat.
    TTA #70: The Leader sends an enormous Humanoid against New Mexico's Army Base. (The Savage) Hulk fights the Humanoid. But Thunderbolt Ross orders to launch a super missile against them two. Rick Jones is able to persuade the Hulk to take cover in the nick of time. The missile knocks the giant robot out.

  • Hulk Saves An Asian Country From Invasion
    TIH #5: Accompanied by Rick Jones, (The Banner) Hulk defeats General Fang's men, and aborts the invasion to an asian country.

  • Hulk Saves Betty Ross' Life
    TIH #5: Accompanied by Rick Jones, (The Banner) Hulk visits the subterrain land of Tyrannus and rescues Betty from the hands of the villain.
    TTA #61: (The Savage) Hulk saves Betty Ross and Glenn Talbot from certain death by intercepting a boulder thrown at them by a man in the Iron Man suit built by Banner. They never noticed the threat.
    TTA #62: (The Savage) Hulk saves Betty Ross and army personnel by absorbing the impact of a gamma rays granade thrown by the Chamaleon.
    TTA #84: (The Savage) Hulk saves Betty Ross from the hands of the Boomerang.

  • Hulk Saves Glenn Talbot's Life

  • Hulk Saves Thunderbolt Ross' Life
    TIH #188: (The Savage) Hulk saves Thunderbolt Ross, Glenn Talbot, and Clay Quartermain's lives by comfronting Droog, a Russian monster, and letting them escape from the complex before its imminent destruction. The complex is destroyed by SHIELD with a powerful blast. But the Hulk makes it out alive.
